SOTA: Monts Frampton et Orignal, le 8 septembre 2018

8 sept 2018 two summits:

1- VE2/QC-027 Mont Frampton

The access point from the road to the summit was unknown to me so i parked alongside the dirt road and began hiking painfully thru the bush.

Le point d’accès au sommet m’étant inconnu je me stationnes en bordure de la route et débutes la rando au travers de la broussaille.

I soon arrived to the service road running along the wind turbines and i knew this would lead me to the summit wich i could already see in the distance.

Apres quelques minutes j’arrives au chemin d’accès qui longe les éoliennes et me guidera sans doute jusqu’au sommet que je peut apercevoir au loin.

I arrived at the highest point after an easy 40 minute hike,took many pictures along the way and found a suitable spot for the « shack » some distance from the wind turbines and protected from the blowing wind.

Apres une rando d’environ 40 minutes j’arrive au point le plus haut et m’installes a une distance sécuritaire des éoliennes et également a l’abri du vent.

My activation was relatively short in order to save some time for the second destination of the day,nonetheless satisfying.

Mon activation radio fut de courte durée mais non moins satisfaisante,je doit me garder du temps pour la seconde destination de la journée.

On my way back i took a shorter and different route without having to go thru the bush.

Le trajet fut différent et plus court pour le retour évitant ainsi la broussaille.

The wind turbines are gigantic and very impressive from a close distance but you do not wan’t to be in proximity in the winter time as the spinning blades can project some ice.

Les éoliennes sont gigantesques et impressionnantes vues de près cependant il faut demeurer a distance sécuritaire particulièrement en hiver afin d’éviter d’être blessé par les projections de glace occasionnelles.

Mount Frampton was an easy hike in the beautiful Beauce region. 👍

Une rando agréable et facile au mont Frampton dans belle région de la Beauce.👍

2- VE2/QC-002 Mont Orignal

I arrive late after noon at mont Orignal and immediately begin the hike wich is easy by one of the ski slopes.

J’arrives en fin d’après-midi au mont Orignal et débutes immédiatement la rando vers le sommet par l’une des pentes de ski.

The time to reach the summit is around 30 minutes.

I will set up camp right at the highest point just beside the big metal cross.

Le sommet est atteint en environ 30 minutes. Je m’installe au plus haut point au pieds de la croix métallique.

Perfect spot where the view is open towards sunset (west). This is the direction i like to point the sloper antenna as most of my contacts are with USA but i still get coverage in other directions as i’ve worked one station in Europe.

Endroit parfait avec vue vers le coucher de soleil (ouest).

Je favorise souvent cette direction ou pointer l’antenne sloper,la plupart des contacts étant avec le ÉU mais sans pour autant perdre une couverture vers l’Europe,a preuve un qso avec l’Espagne.

20m and 40m bands are good and this time i will make more contacts and make two S2S qso’s.

Les bandes du 20 et 40m sont bonnes et cette fois je ferai un peu plus de contacts et avec 2 S2S au passage.

This time i can see many peaks in the distance but cannot identify them.

Je peut apercevoir plusieurs sommets mais malheureusement je ne peut les identifier.

I’m enjoying my visit but the sun is quickly setting and it is getting cooler so i must pack things up and head back down the mountain.

Mon passage sur ce sommet se veut agréable mais le soleil descends vite et l’air frais arrive,je doit donc plier bagages et prendre le chemin du retour.
